Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein looks the part, all gothic and brooding, but scratch the surface and it’s about as deep as an All Time Low single. It ticks the boxes visually without actually saying much of anything. It’s way too long and telegraphs the ending right from the start. Perfectly watchable, but there’s no real substance underneath the atmosphere.
